Refried Beans

I usually don't like refried beans.  When I go to a Mexican restaurant, I just leave it on my plate.  This recipe, however, I could eat the entire recipe myself!

Refried Beans
4 servings

Ingredients:
2 T bacon grease (I've been told there is NO substitutions for this)
1 med onion, diced
4 garlic cloves, diced
1/2 lb pinto beans
1 c bean cooking liquid , water, or chicken broth
salt to taste

Directions:

1.  Place beans in pot, add water to cover beans 1 inch
2.  Bring to a rolling boil, boil for 1 hour, covered

3.  In a separate pan, melt bacon grease, cook, stirring often, until deep golden brown, about 10 minutes

4.  Add garlic, cook for 1 minute

5.  Add beans, mash with potato masher, adding water until texture you want, serve
